Five Ways To Be Happy

Samuel Rannals
Block 3
21 October 2013
Five Ways To Be Happy
1.
Express Gratitude. Being grateful is more than just saying thank you. Appreciate the things you have in life especially the small things because later you’ll realize the little things were the big things that really mattered. There’s a lot of people in the world who don’t have such an easy lifestyle as we do. Take advantage of it and appreciate everything.

2.
Surround Yourself with Happy People. Joy is contagious. Surrounding yourself around others that are happy always puts you in a happy mood. Negative vibes always put you in a bad mood. Happiness can easily be spread with a smile towards others.
3. Find Your Purpose. Set a short term goal you’d like to achieve. It doesn’t have to be something big but make goals. People who strive to achieve success are more happier than those who don't have such aspirations. Set a long term goal that’d take the course of about five years. Where do you see yourself after five years? Strive to reach those goals and you’ll be a much more happy person.

4. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others. Comparing yourself to others is the fastest way to be unhappy with your life. While, jealousy is a motivation to some, its a trait that never leads to positive outcomes. God made you in your own special and unique way, everyone is beautiful inside and out.

5.
Get Active. Go outside more. Join a sport or a club. Don’t be that boring person who has the same routine everyday. Being indoors is horrible! You can be ten times more happy by getting outside and enjoying a beautiful sunny day.

My Favorite Mistake

My favorite mistake would have to be getting pulled over and having drug paraphernalia. I didn't really learn anything from it but I will never forget the most frightening experience of my life so far. One stupid mistake can totally change your life for better or for worse, but no matter what you always have to learn from your mistakes so maybe next time you don't make the same mistake again.
This mistake started a week before, when my friend Chibi and I had a conversation while playing Xbox. We were listening to blaring music while playing our favorite game, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Chibi turned down the volume and said, "Aye bro I'm throwing a party for my birthday on four twenty next week, wanna come?" At first the idea was irrelevant to me because that night I was going to rent movies with my girlfriend and eat junk food and stay at my house.
Unsure of what I should do I said, "I don't know dog I'm supposed to chill with Bubba that night, I'll hit her up to see if she wants to go to the party and the next night we'll have our movie night."
"Alright dude text her, NOW!" Chibi demanded.
"Ok, puto hol' up," I replied with a chuckle. I texted my girlfriend, Liana, to see if she was ok with the sudden change of plans. And she was so everything was all good for the next week. The following week was full of buzz about that party. Everyone who's anyone was planning to go to this party because Chibi is really known as a popular friendly guy.
My girlfriend came to my house after school and later on my cousin and a couple friends arrived at my house to hang out before the party. The party house was about four blocks away from my house so we walked and got there around 9 pm. When we arrived at the party everyone split up and did their own thing while Liana and I met up with some other friends and Chibi to wish him a happy birthday for tomorrow. The house was loud with great music playing and a bunch of teenagers were dancing. We went upstairs to Chibi's room and there was about 7 of our friends sitting around getting high as kites off of weed.
People were drinking and doing illegal things but hey, it's a party and were teens; we just wanted to have a good time. Around 10:30 or so a group of people who claimed West Park arrived and they were definitely NOT invited. No one really likes the people who showed up but they let them in and have fun too. It was about 1 am and the party started to die down after an appearance from the police. So I told my girlfriend we should go back home and we got my cousin and a few friends and we headed back to my house.
We started walking home down Suey street and we noticed the group of people from the party that were not invited. They were being loud and obnoxious from the other side of the street and one of them shouted, “Fuck you!” We didn’t want any problems because it was already past curfew and we were just trying to get home. They crossed the street to where we were and I noticed an aroma of beer and marijuana coming from a guy who looked about the same age as I was and he was the same size. He tried banging on me cause I was wearing a “WEST SIDE” shirt and he asked me where I’m from. I told him I didn’t bang but if he wanted problems we could make that happen. I set my backpack down and I noticed everyone set their backpack right where mine was. I walked to the middle of the street and he walked to me and pushed me and we squared up. We started fighting and then they pulled us apart cause they heard police sirens. The group of people grabbed their backpacks and ran the opposite direction as we were going because the cops were coming. For some reason I had a strange feeling early in the day that made me think twice about going to the party and this was totally it. The police pulled us over and noticed I had a busted lip. He sat everyone down and asked me about the cut I told him I had been elbowed while playing basketball. The officer smelt marijuana and asked to search us and I gave him permission. He grabbed our backpacks and in my backpack he found a miniature bong and a bag of weed. “That’s not mine!” I shouted.
“Who’s is it than?” The officer questioned.
I told him the real story of how I ended up with the busted lip and backpack. “I must have grabbed the wrong backpack,” I explained. The officer found a wallet in the small pouch of the backpack and in the wallet was a school I.D. of some other person and he decided to let us go home.
Looking back at my favorite mistake I realized I just had bad luck that night and next time if my conscience gives me a bad feeling I should probably follow my conscience.

Antigone Compare and Contrast

In the play, Antigone by Sophocles, Antigone and Creon share similar traits that ultimately lead to their downfalls. Conflict between Antigone and Creon are the result of both their similarities and differences.

Antigone and Creon have many differences, for example they are both loyal but they're loyal to different people/things. Antigone is loyal to her family. Antigone says, " I will bury the brother I love" (Prologue. 73). This shows that even though she is forbidden to bury him, she still wants to because she loves her family and thinks that he deserves to be buried. Antigone is also loyal to the Gods when she rebukes Creon for thinking that his laws are more important than the laws of the Gods. this shows her loyalty to the Gods because she doesn't see it as the right thing to do, she believes that the way of the Gods are the way everyone should abide by. Although Creon isn't as loyal to the Gods or family, he is loyal to the state. Creon says, "Gentlemen: I have the honor to inform you that our ship of state, which recent storms have threatened to destroy, has come safely to harbor at last!" (I. 8-10). This shows that he is loyal to his people because he shows that he actually cares about his troops. Creon isn't as loyal to family because he didn't care that Polynieces died in battle and made a law to forbid everyone from burring him. Creon thinks Polynieces was a traitor and didn't care how his family saw the issue.

Antigone and Creon are similar in that they're both very proud and arrogant. For example, Antigone shows self pride when she says, " I should have praise and honor for what I have done" (II. 113). This is a demonstration of self pride because she was basically demanding popularity, praise, and honor for her actions and she wants to be recognized. Also, Antigone says that all the men would praise her if it wasn't for the men being afraid of Creon. This shows that she thinks the men wouldn't fear her. So, she would be a better ruler. As for Creon, he also shows a lot of hubris when he says, "My voice is the only voice giving orders in this city!" (III. 108). This demonstrates that Creon doesn't like when people try to have a say in demands, not even the Gods. He also says to Heimon that he'll regret his superior tone used toward him. This shows that Creon doesn't like when people try to be superior to Creon. Creon and Antigone both have Hubris.

Creon Deserves his punishment that he got because he totally went against the laws of the Gods and didn't let anyone bury Polynieces. Antigone didn't deserve her life sentence punishment because she stayed loyal to her brother and did what she thought was the right thing to do.

Imma Share My life With all of you, Don’t Judge though -.- My life was pretty normal before high school. I went to Fesler Junior high school, played sports, and loved hanging out with friends. High school changed a lot of things. I used to get suspended from school all the time and I never really cared about school, but I realized I had to get my act together. I had way more homework in Jr. High than I do now which is pretty cool. But in high school you actually have to do everything if you want to succeed because these four years of our lives determines what were gonna do in the future. The most important person in my life would have to be my Girlfriend Liana. She kind of gave me a reality check about school and she showed me that to be something in life you gotta work for it. I don’t wanna mess up my life so I listened to her and actually tried in school. And compared to my eighth grade year I did way better as a Freshman! Freshman year ended and I must say that it was the funnest and fastest year of my life! And then came Summer !
Summer of 2013, kind of changed my life. I live at home with my Mother, Step Father, and my two Uncles. Oh wait, I forgot. My Girlfriend of 5 years total lives with me as well. Pretty strange, right? I don’t think so. Liana moved in with me right when summer started due to family problems. But I think it’s pretty cool actually. We do everything together and its pretty fun. Every night we would watch movies or play xbox all night long! Every day we’d go to the beach or we’d do something really fun like go outta town and go hiking. Liana, honestly is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me aside from being born. I can honestly say that I do Love her with All my Heart cause she’s my bestfriend. She’s always been there for me and is a true friend. I’d do absolutely anything for her we both have been through a lot together and we may have our differences at times but I truly LOVE her with ALL Mi Corazon<3333333333 But yeah my summer was pretty fun I hung out with my girlfriend, friends, and Family (:
After high school I would like to move out with my girlfriend and get an apartment together and go to the same college and study to become a Homicide Detective. I’d like to become a Homicide Detective because I watch a lot of shows about Detectives and I like trying to solve why and how a person was murdered.
